This paper reports research into learning approaches of overseas colleagues enrolled on Coventry University's Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education.  Evidence will be presented on culturally diverse responses towards the 'professionalisation' of teaching in higher education.  Discussion will centre on the potential dangers of Anglo-centricity in teacher development programmes and ways in which a sensitivity to diversity may need to be incorporated therein.
